Features must be selected before they can be modified. Selected features are displayed with a black line/dot and a blue hue around it.

While any feature(s) are selected, the bottom toolbar is replaced with a Selection Toolbar.  Tap the ‘Deselect All’ item in the Selection Toolbar to deselect all features and return to the standard bottom toolbar.

Select Features

To select features:

  • Tap one or more features on the map once each

Avoid tapping a selected feature again, as this will create an additional vertex on that selected feature (see below).

Deselect Features

  • Tap the ‘Deselect All’ button in the bottom toolbar
    • If there are any unsaved modifications, select one of the ‘Save…’ or ‘Discard’ options to save or discard the modifications

Modify Selected Feature(s)

Before any of the modifications below can be performed the feature(s) to be modified must be selected (see above).

Modify Feature Geometry (shape)

Add Vertex

  • Select a feature (see Select Features, above)
  • Tap on a line (or polygon perimeter) between two existing vertices to place a new vertex at that location
  • Drag the vertex to the desired location
  • Tap the ‘Save’ button on the bottom toolbar (or tap ‘Save’ after making further geometry modifications)

The tap-and-drag can be done as one single action.  Ie, drag from a line segment midpoint (between two existing vertices) to the location where the new vertex should be.  This will create the vertex and place it at the new location.

Delete Vertex

  • Select a feature (see Select Features, above)
  • Double-tap on an existing vertex
  • Tap the ‘Save’ button on the bottom toolbar (or tap ‘Save’ after making further geometry modifications)

Move Vertex

  • Select a feature (see Select Features, above)
  • Drag an existing vertex to the desired location
  • Tap the ‘Save’ button on the bottom toolbar (or tap ‘Save’ after making further geometry modifications)

Merge Features

Merging is only available if more than one feature is selected and all the selected features have the same geometry type (eg, all lines)

  • Tap multiple features of the same geometry type to select them (see Select Features, above)
  • Tap the ‘Modify’ button in the bottom menu
  • Select ‘Merge Features’

Split Feature

Splitting is only available for a line feature – Point and Polygon features cannot be split (in the current version).

Line features can only be split at a vertex.  In order to split a line part way along a line segment between vertices, a new vertex can be added at the desired location along the line, and then the line can be split at that new vertex (see ‘Add Vertex’ under ‘Modify Feature Geometry (Shape)’, above).

  • Tap a line feature to select it (see Select Features, above)
  • Tap a vertex on the selected line feature to select that vertex as the split point (the vertex will be highlighted blue with black outline (instead of black with blue outline for the other vertices)
  • Tap the ‘Modify’ button on the bottom toobar
  • Select ‘Split Feature’

Delete Feature(s)

  • Tap feature(s) to select it/them (see Select Features, above)
  • Tap the ‘Modify’ button on the bottom toolbar
  • Select ‘Delete Feature(s)’
